Cathy Lee Featured Speaker at Carbon Markets Africa Conference, Johannesburg

Cathy Lee will participate in two panels at the Carbon Markets & Climate Finance Africa 2011 conference, January 25-26, 2011, in Johannesburg, where the continent’s carbon market leaders gather to develop institutional capacity and substantially increase the pace of project investment and development. Scheduled for the month after COP 16, Carbon Markets and Climate Finance Africa 2011 is the first opportunity for the stakeholders in Africa’s carbon future to digest the news from Cancun and take action to put Africa at the heart of the global carbon market.

Lee will present two case studies of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in the South African cities of Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni, providing information that municipalities and private companies need to know to successfully implement CDM projects. Lee will also participate in the Emerging Markets section as a panelist on the topic of: Renewable Energy Opportunities in Africa. (For more information, download program agenda here.)

Lee International helps organizations benefit strategically and financially from carbon emissions trading schemes. Our focus is on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in developing countries, emission reduction projects for the voluntary markets in the USA and Europe, and the new mandatory regional trading programs in the USA, such as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). The firm provides a full complement of legal, regulatory and advisory services connecting buyers and sellers in Brazil, South Africa, China, Canada, EU, and the USA, while monitoring emerging carbon trading programs in the United States.
