Cathy Lee Presents on Using Carbon Credits to Finance Weatherization Projects

AUGUSTA — Cathy Lee of Lee International will be among the presenters at Maine’s 2009 Affordable Housing Conference October 19 at the Augusta Civic Center, which will feature one of the nation’s top energy officials.

Gil Sperling, Program Manager for the Office of Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs for the Department of Energy, will address the conference, along with Governor Baldacci.

Lee will participate in a plenary session using carbon credits to finance weatherization of homes. Other workshop topics include using tax credits and historic tax credits to finance affordable rental housing, housing issues created by closure of the Brunswick Naval Air Station, public health and housing, and cost effectiveness of rural supportive housing.

MaineHousing, which is sponsoring the conference, estimates about 400 people will attend. People can register on-line at www.mainehousing.org until October 14. The cost of the conference, including breakfast and lunch, is $60.

Lee International helps organizations benefit strategically and financially from carbon emissions trading schemes. Our focus is on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in developing countries, emission reduction projects for the voluntary markets in the USA and Europe, and the new mandatory regional trading programs in the USA, such as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). The firm provides a full complement of legal, regulatory and advisory services connecting buyers and sellers in Brazil, South Africa, China, Canada, EU, and the USA, while monitoring emerging carbon trading programs in the United States.
